Undergraduate Student Loan Policies

What items can I check out from the library?

  • Materials from all circulating collections
  • Books and videos from other libraries through MOBIUS or Interlibrary Loan
  • Articles from other libraries (generally sent electronically)

 

How many items can I have checked out at one time?

  • Undergraduate students may have 25 items checked out at one time.
    • Three of those 25 items can be audio books, CDs, video games, kits or DVDs.
    • Ten of those 25 items can be MOBIUS items.

How long can I keep checked out items?

  • Undergraduate students may keep books from the main collection, children's collection, best sellers, government documents, and audio books for four weeks, and may renew these items twice.
  • MOBIUS books may be kept for 40 days.
  • MOBIUS A/V materials checkout lengths will vary, depending on the lending library's policies, but should be a minimum of 10 days.
  • MOBIUS items are not renewable.
  • CDs, video games, kits and DVDs may be kept for 2 weeks and may be renewed twice.
  • Cameras, and digital projectors may be kept for 3 days, and may not be renewed.
  • Reserves are subject to different checkout lengths ranging from 2 hours to 7 days and may not be renewed.
  • Due dates for items borrowed through Interlibrary Loan are determined by the lending library.

How do I renew my materials?

  • Online through "My Library Account" on the library's homepage - requires Southeast key and password.
  • By phone at 573.651.2232
  • By email at circulationdesk@semo.edu 
  • In person
  • To request a renewal for an item borrowed through Interlibrary Loan, please email the Interlibrary Loan Office. The lending library determines whether a renewal is possible.

What happens if I return the items late?
