What are they?

Open Educational Resources (or OERs) describes a broad range of educational content .  OERs can be textbooks, recorded lectures, instructional videos, or any other online content with an educational purpose.  This research guide is an OER itself (although not all content linked from it is)

The 'Open' means that resources can be reused and/or remixed by anyone.    The framework is built on the Creative Commons concept and is a main distinguishing characteristic compared to online content that may be under copyright or only available via subscription/license.
