Inflection Point: Educational Resources in U.S. Higher Education, 2019Key findings:
• OER awareness is growing. More than half of faculty (53%) report some level of awareness of OER, up 19 percentage points from about a third (34%) in 2014-15, crossing the halfway mark for the first time.
• More than a quarter of faculty who teach introductory subjects (26%) and 14% of all faculty have used OER as a required material in at least one course, slightly up rom last year.
• Faculty who adopt OER have the same level of overall satisfaction with their textbook as adopters of non-OER, along with key benchmarks on accuracy and quality.
• Faculty who are aware of an OER initiative at their department, campus, or system are much more likely to be adopters of OER, suggesting these initiatives are successful.
SPARC Annual ReportEach year, SPARC produces a report using the data collected through Connect OER. Reports provide a snapshot of the state of OER at participating campuses, and analyze the data for insights on best practices, current trends, and the collective impact being achieved through OER.
