The Catcher in the Rye by J.D. SalingerCall Number: LC Collection PS3537 .A426 1951 (4th floor)
Since its publication in 1951, Salinger’s The Catcher in the Rye has been banned by many schools and libraries. While there is a lot of profanity, sexual references, and perceived immortality, the book is also “true to life” in a way that engages the reader from the first page. The protagonist, Holden Caulfield, is a teenage slacker who drinks, smokes, and engages in questionable behavior.
