UI 436: Agriculture Ethics

RECOMMENDED BOOKS ON 'AGRICULTURE ETHICS'

Search for books and ebooks using Kent Library's catalog

To perform a basic Keyword Search in Kent Library's catalog, think of words that are relevant to your topic and type them into the search box. A simple search could be:

sustainability AND (farming OR ranching)

Or you can just type in the author, title, or subject of an item you are looking for.

Once you click the 'Search' button, a number of book titles should appear on the screen. You can then browse through those titles and click on the ones that appeal to you, which will take you to the record of that particular book.

The advanced search allows you to search by multiple criteria and limit your search results.

Once you find a book that might be useful to you, make note of the location of the book and the call number.  Because Kent Library is going through a reclassification project (changing from Dewey Decimal to Library of Congress), you will need to know general call numbers from both systems.  In Dewey, AGRICULTURE is in the 878 section of the stacks.  In LC (Library of Congress), AGRICULTURE book call numbers begin with S (sub-categories follow, such as SF for Animal Science, etc.).

Once you have found a book, take it to the Access Services desk, located on the 2nd Floor, just inside the main entrance of the Library. For undergraduate students, there is a limit of 25 books that you can check out at a time for 4 weeks (+ 2 renewals). Graduate students are allowed to check out 75 books for 8 weeks (+ 2 renewals).

if you can't find the book you are looking for in Kent Library's catalog, your next step should be to check the MOBIUS catalog, which is a 'union catalog' comprised of nearly all the academic libraries' catalogs in the state plus some of The Show-Me State's biggest and best public library holdings as well.
