Inflection Point: Educational Resources in U.S. Higher Education, 2019 Key findings: • OER awareness is growing. More than half of faculty (53%) report some level of awareness of OER, up 19 percentage points from about a third (34%) in 2014-15, crossing the halfway mark for the first time. • More than a quarter of faculty who teach introductory subjects (26%) and 14% of all faculty have used OER as a required material in at least one course, slightly up rom last year. • Faculty who adopt OER have the same level of overall satisfaction with their textbook as adopters of non-OER, along with key benchmarks on accuracy and quality. • Faculty who are aware of an OER initiative at their department, campus, or system are much more likely to be adopters of OER, suggesting these initiatives are successful.
